Analysis - Performance and Responsiveness
Each game session is designed to be brief, lasting approximately 2-3 minutes, making it ideal for quick, engaging play sessions on the go. The core loop involves: receiving a randomized grocery list, scanning market stalls for items, tapping to collect, managing a dwindling budget, and racing against a timer.
Inspiration
Inspired by hidden object games, players receive a shopping list and must navigate various market stalls to locate all the required items before their time or budget runs out.
Player Goals
Successfully locate and collect all items on the provided grocery list.
Complete the shopping trip within the allotted time.
Complete the shopping trip without exhausting the budget.
Budget System
• Players begin each session with a predefined starting budget (e.g., 10000).
• Incorrect Tap Penalty: Each time a player taps on an item that is not on their grocery list, a fixed amount (e.g., 2500) is deducted from their budget.
• The budget is displayed on the HUD. When the budget reaches 0, the game ends, resulting in a loss.
• The budget system adds a layer of precision and risk management, punishing careless tapping and encouraging careful observation.
Randomization of Items and Stalls
• Grocery List: For each new session, a unique grocery list is procedurally generated, both in terms of the specific items required and their quantity.
• Item Placement: The locations of all searchable items (both on-list and 'red herring' items) within the market stalls are randomized at the start of every session.
• Stall Selection/Arrangement: The specific market stalls available in a session, and their arrangement within the market layout, can also be randomized from a larger pool of available stalls, ensuring a fresh experience with each playthrough.
